Verena. My name is Verena. Verena means faith or truth. I was named after the Egyptian-born saint, St. Verena. My parents chose to name me Verena because the first church they visited in the United States was called St. Mary and St. Verena. St. Verena was known for tending to the poor and unclean. The priest in that church told them they should name me Verena if I turned out to be a girl. Ironically, they were already torn between the name Verena and Angelina. So after they visited St. Mary and St. Verena, they decided my name was going to be Verena.
